Walk Cycle Animation

Image
Walk Cycle Narrative Walk Cycle is a very basic and effective way to learn and apply principles of Animation. Many different types of walk cycles define the personality of a character through emotions. I decided to go with the SWAT walk cycle with the gun in both hands pointing towards the enemy.  The basic idea behind choosing the particular walk cycle is to play with the constraints. Planning With the help of Canvas Animation lectures, It was very easy and time-saving to find an exact reference of the particular walk cycle.   I chose Judy Hops from the movie Zootopia because of her incredibly fluid rig and intricate controls like her tail and ears, which are crucial for applying rules like overlapping and follow-through during the walk cycle. To simplify the whole workflow, I decided to draw a mind map.    Reference Collection I collected specific references that showcase the blocking poses of the relaxed walk. From this, it helped me to understand the ...

Character Performance

Character Performance Narrative The scenario is a well-known interview from the Suits TV show. Choosing the audio clip was simple for me because it satisfies every need, including scene start, scene middle, and scene finish. The scene is about the interview in which the interviewee is confident about his achievements. However, he does not have a law degree.  The dialogue is as follows Interviewer: “Unfortunately we only hire from Harvard. And you not only did not go to Harvard Law School, Have’nt been to any law school.” Interviewee: “ What if I told you I consume knowledge like no one you ever met and I have actually passed the Bar!” Interviewer: “ I would say you are full of crap.” Reference I tried to simplify the reference by breaking dialogues into three sections. Because of this It was convenient for me to act accordingly. It was the first time I was going to act in order to animate the clip as a reference.  First of all, creating our own scene was a little bit d...

3D Hard Surface After thinking for a while, For hard surface modeling, I decided to mode a turret. My basic idea for the turret was to instead of taking references and model as it is, I am thinking to take two or three references and merge them and create one out of it. Design and References Initially, I considered modeling a sci-fi turret, but the few references I could find primarily used simple shaders rather than textures. I therefore chose to use the stylized ancient, rusting turret. Additionally, I was able to locate a lot of turret references. Planning and Management Since the turret is stylized, It should not contain a major amount of details. For the main body of the turret, I decide to come up with a list of objects which I can add from the above references. So I first came up with the basic body of the Turret which includes the foundation that the Turret will stand on The design of the Turret The machine near the turret with some detailed wires.  Eventually, I dec...
